What are your hours of operation?
Is there an attendant on site?
Yes. University Car Wash is proudly staffed 7 days a week (except major holidays) to keep our facility clean and operational. When an attendant is on duty, they can also provide change. The inspection garage is staffed during its specific business hours (Mon–Sat, 9 AM – 6 PM).
When is the inspection garage open?
We perform Texas state emissions inspections Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Please note that our final inspection of the day is taken around 5:45 PM. We are closed on Sundays and major holidays.
Which holidays is the inspection garage closed?
Our inspection station is closed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Do I need an appointment for a Texas vehicle inspection?
All inspections are walk-in only. Because we do not take appointments, wait times vary, but we work quickly to get you back on the road.
How long does an inspection take?
Once your vehicle enters the bay, the inspection process takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
What do I need to bring for my vehicle inspection?
You must bring valid, current proof of auto insurance for every inspection:
What forms of payment do you accept?
Do you have a change machine on site?
Yes. We have an on-site bill changer that accepts all $1, $5, $10, and $20. You can also ask our on-duty attendant to break bills $20 and under.
How much does it cost to use the vacuums?
The vacuums have a minimum charge of $1.00 for 3 minutes. You can add additional time as needed while you clean.
How much does it cost to use the self-service washing bays?
The self-service bays have a minimum charge of $4.00 for 4 minutes. You can add funds as desired, and the digital timer will count down your remaining time.
Why do I see a $15 hold on my credit card statement?
When you swipe a card at our bays or vacuums, a standard $15 temporary pre-authorization hold is placed on your card by the payment processor.
When will the hold be removed, and how much will I actually be charged?
The temporary hold usually drops off within 1 to 5 business days, depending on your bank. You will only be finalized and billed for the exact amount of service time you actually used.
How can I tell the exact amount charged for my wash?
When you are finished washing, press the green stop charges button on the swiper. Your final charge total will display directly on the red LED screen.
